Manchester United are looking ahead to a big transfer window as the club looks to strengthen different areas of the squad. According to reports from Portugal, the Red Devils are close to making a double swoop for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Benfica defender Ruben Dias.
It is understood that Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on the duo as he looks to rebuild his team ahead of next season. Fernandes has been impressive this season, notching 33 goals in all competitions for the Sporting.
Manchester City was rumoured to be interested in the player but latest reports reveal that Man United are the overwhelming favourites to sign the 24-year-old. Sporting are understood to have demanded a fee of around £70 million for his services.
Meanwhile, Benfica defender Dias has been a subject of a bid from Manchester United according to Portuguese tabloid A Bola. According to the report Solskjaer is a huge fan of the player and wants to sign the 21-year-old on a long-term deal.
Benfica are open to selling as long as Man United can pay the full value on his buyout clause. Dias has a release clause of £52 million in his existing contract.
ManchesterUnited would need to pay a premium fee of £122 million for both players to move to Old Trafford in the summer.
