Man United told to pay £59m for star defender

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to recruit a new centre-back into the team having signed the duo of James Daniel and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.

Man Utd have been linked with a move to sign England international, Harry Maguire from Leicester City, however, the Foxes are making the transfer difficult for the Red Devils as they are demanding a transfer fee that will make Maguire become the most expensive defender in the world.

Following the Foxes refusal, Man Utd have now turned their focus on Benfica’s 22-year-old defender, Ruben Dias.

Reports from Portugal did not reveal the full contract details, however, Benfica are said to be demanding for full payment of £59 million.

To make the transfer more difficult for Man Utd, Benfica are not under pressure to sell Dias as they have made close to £200 million during the transfers this summer.

Daily Mailreports that Benfica are pushing Dias toward signing a new deal with them that will see his transfer clause rise to £79 million.

Dias rose through the youth ranks at Benfica and at the moment, he is in the club’s first team. He is also a regular with the Portuguese national team.

22-year-old Dias will be a perfect upgrade to Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

The Man United fans would be hoping their club signs Maguire as he is a tried and trusted Premier League defender.
