Manchester United are looking to make a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić according to reports in Italy.
The Serbian midfielder has been linked with the club for the past few seasons and could yet make a surprise transfer this summer.
It is understood that the club are looking to offer Lazio £71.6million for the central midfielder as they look to strengthen the midfield. The departure of Ander Herrera from the club this summer has brought about a shortage of personnel in United’s midfield.
The Red Devils want the Serbian international as an option in their midfield even more necessitated by the uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford.
French side Paris Saint-Germain in Milinkovic-Savic are also interested in the player but FFP is seen as a major problem for the club.
Milinkovic-Savic is known as a midfielder that has good ability on the ball and can also dominate opposing midfield.
Manchester United would be strengthened if the club can make the move as they are in dire need of reinforcements in the midfield. However the recent contract renewals of Andreas Perreira could mean that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is contented with his current options.
It remains to be seen whether the club would be able to complete the move before the end of the week.
Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff has also been linked to the club alongside Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina.
