Manchester United eyeing £32 million bargain move for Kostas Manolas

Latest reports from Englandclaims that United are looking towards AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas for a transfer in January.

The Sun carried a report that United have intensified its pursuit for a centre-backand Manolas reportedly fitsthe bill. The Greek international is valued at £32 million which is a fraction of the fee touted for other targets such as Milan Skriniar and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Manolas has developed into a top-classcentre-backsince his move to Rome from Olympiacos and starred last season as the capital club reached the Champions League semifinals. Mourinho is desperate to strengthen the centreback position and Manolas could be the right fit for the Red Devils. United have been abysmal at the back this season and would need stability in defence to table a late push into the top 4.

It is believed that Roma arenot willing to sell, but the £32 million buyout clause means that United have the advantage in sealing this move. Other European sides such as Bayern Munich and Arsenal have indicated interest in the 27-year-old. Roma isknown as a selling club and would sell the defender if United would make the right offer.

Manolas is an upgrade on the current defensive options available at Old Trafford and would bring stability to the defence if he indeed makes the move.
