ManchesterUnited have been linked with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the past few transfer windows and latest reports suggest a deal could be close.
Koulibaly is reportedly high on the list of targets for the January transfer window. According to the Sunday Mirror, Mourinho has demanded the signature of the Senegalese international.
The report claims that United are looking to offer Napoli a huge transfer bid to sway the club into selling the defender in January. United have struggled all seasonat the back conceding 21 goals in the league so far. The likes of Chris Smalling. Victor Lindelof, Eric Baily and Phil Jones have proven to be unreliable this season.
Koulibaly is seen as a player that could bring an instant fix to the defence and bring similar impact to what Van Dirk has done at Liverpool. Napoli arelooking towards a fee of £70 million and United would have to match this fee to sign for the defender.
United transfer chiefs are most likely to sanction a transfer for the defender aheadof Tottenham, defender Toby Alderweireld. Koulibaly is two years younger than the Belgian defender and could form a long-termpartnership at the back.
This transfer looks likely to drag through the winter transfer window but looks more realistic in the summer.
