Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly by offering a transfer bid of around £84 million for his signature.
According to reports from Italy, United are desperate to sign the Senegalese player that has been on their radar for a few seasons.
It is understood that Napoli are unwilling to sell but United are keen on getting their man and have put in a huge bid for the player.
The £84 million bid would surpass the £70 million Liverpool paid for Van Dirk last summer.
Koulibaly is considered as the best defender in Italy and he showed that once again in the last campaign where he won the award as the best defender for the season. Capable of playing the ball from the back and strong in the air, the 27-year-old will be seen as a game changer for United if he makes the switch to Old Trafford.
Manchester United conceded 57 goals last season in the league which was the most for the top six sides.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly desperate to bring the player as he would bring experience and organization to the defence.
This transfer is one that we expect to drag through the transfer window as Napoli are known for delaying big money transfers.
