Following the completion of the transfer deal for Nicolas Pepe from Lille to Arsenal, the Ivory Coast international has finally gotten a number assigned to him in his team.
It should be recalled that Arsenal FC on Thursday afternoon officially unveiled the 24-year-old winger.
Arsenal agreed on a transfer deal of £72 million with Lille for Pepe, according to the terms of the agreement, the English side will make the payment in installments.
Signing of the winger at such an amount has been met with surprises by Arsenal fans all over the world.
The Independent reports that Arsenal have finally assigned the number 19 to Nicolas Pepe, the number was previously donned by Bernd Leno, who now has number 1 as his shirt number.
Pepe in his statement after his unveiling disclosed that he feels happy at Arsenal and that he is happy to play alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Manager Unai Emery in his statement shared his delight to have Pepe in his team. He said signing a top-class winger has been the major objective for Arsenal this summer.
He disclosed that he expects Pepe to add his pace, power, and creativity to get more goals for Arsenal next season.
