Liverpool are quite relaxed in their pursuit of summer targets as they are still basking in the euphoria of their Champion League title triumph.
However, they are set to announce the transfer of PEC Zwolle defender Sepp van den Berg on a permanent transfer. The 17-year-old is expected to undergo his medical today before an official announcement.
The Telegraph reports that the Reds have already agreed personal terms with the youngster and his transfer fee believed to be around £1.79million.
Liverpool saw off stiff competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Ajax to sign the young centre-back. It is reported that the opportunity to train with fellow compatriots Georginio Wijnaldum, Ki-Jana, and Virgil van Dijk was an offer too tempting to resist.
The youngster would be hoping to follow the footsteps of Van Dijk who has been a solid rock in the Liverpool’s defence.
Ever since he broke into the first team, he has gone on to be a regular with 15 Eredivisie appearances under his belt and is considered as one of the brightest talents in Netherland. The youngster has earned three caps playing for the Netherland’s Under-19 team.
Van den Berg is expected to be Liverpool’s first summer signing once the deal is completed.
