Manchester United have agreed a transfer for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire according to reports from England.
Maguire’s impending transfer to Man United had been trending in the past weeks following news of negotiations between both clubs involved.
According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have agreed a record bid of £85 million to sign the England international. This stunning swoop would see Maguire overtake PFA player of the year Virgil Van Dijk as the most expensive defender in the world.
It is understood that Leicester had stuck to their initial stance of more money upfront with additional fees. Manchester agreed to this terms and have structured the deal in a way that satisfied the Foxes leading to the agreement.
Maguire was left out of the Leicester squad scheduled to play Serie A outfit Atalanta on Friday night which all but paves the way for the deal. His arrival would secure one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s target which is a quality centre back.
Manchester United are also expected to agree a deal for Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes in what should be a double swoop this week. Fernandes is seen as an upgrade to the midfield and would be part of the Marquee signings this summer alongside Maguire.
With a record fee on his head, Maguire would be under pressure to perform and reach the heights of the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the famous Red strip.
