Napoli ace says he may join Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea

Napoli offensive Belgian star, Dries Mertens will be happy to joinChelsea if Maurizio Sarri comes calling in the future.

The 31-year-old who paired Lorenzo Insigne in the Champions League last group stage match against Liverpool suffered a defeat at Anfield and are now Europa league bound after finishing third.

Dries Mertens, whose club 12 match unbeaten spell in all competition came to an end yesterday at Anfield, has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 19 matches for the Italian club who sit second behind Juventus in Serie A.

Despite his growing interest in joining the English Premier League and his admiration for his former but now Chelsea coach, Maurizio Sarri, he will love to continue playing for Napoli until his contract expires in 2020.

After seeing off his contract a season and half from now with his current employer, he wouldn’t mind playing for Sarri again if he puts a call across to him.

Chelsea’s manager has been scouting players from his former club with recent reports strongly linking him to Napoli’s right-back Elseid Hysaj.

Also, Gonzalo Higuain was linked after successfully bringing Jorginho along with him to the Blues from Naples. The Argentine opted for AC Milan on a season long loan from Juventus instead due to lukewarm support for the move from the hierarchy at Chelsea.

If Mertens continues doing well by chipping in with goals and assists and his work rate remains the same, his wish to play for Sarri again might come true sooner than expected.
