William Saliba has been rumoured to be on his way to Arsenal in the past few weeks. If latest indications are anything to go by, a transfer is imminent for the French defender.
According to L’Equipe, Saliba is closing in on a move to the Emirates after he was offered a five-year contract. The report claims that Saliba has agreed personal terms with the London club.
This report is corroborated by French website Le 10 Sport which recently posted that the transfer is to be completed in the next few days.
Saliba has been likened to Real Madrid ace Raphael Varane due to the similarities in their playing style. He is capable of building up attacks from the defence and at 6ft4, the 18-year-old is not easily beaten during aerial duels.
It is understood that the major delay in the transfer is due to his current price tag. Saint-Etienne value the player at £30 million but the Gunners want a lower form. Secondly the French side want to retain the player on loan next season.
Arsenal have no problems with the player spending next season on loan at the club but wants a lower fee for the teenage defender.
The London club have also been linked with Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen and Espanyol ace Hermoso as they look to strengthen the backline.
With several reports saying the same thing about this transfer, we expect Saliba to be announced as an Arsenal player in the next few days. However, here’s how Saliba will look in Arsenal shirt if he eventually joins Arsenal.
