Arsenal young and versatile forward, Eddie Nketiah completed a loan switch to Championship side, Leeds United on Thursday.
The forward is expected to remain in his new club for the rest of the season on loan. However, the transfer move comes as a surprise especially after Nketiah performance for Arsenal during the preseason tour of the United States.
Nketiah played well and even scored against big teams like Bayern Munich and Fiorentina and many expected manager Unai Emery would give him playing chances in the senior team. This, however, will no longer be possible at least for this season.
The young winger joined Arsenal Academy in 2015 after Chelsea FC released him. He, however, didn’t gain prominence until 2018 when he made a good performance against Norwich City in the League club.
He has made 18 appearances for Arsenal senior team and has one goal to his name in the Premier League which he scored against Burnley.
Aside from Leeds United, the likes of Bristol City, Swansea City, and German side Fortuna Dusseldorf had at some points showed interest him.
With Nketiah now out of Emirates Stadium, Gabriele Martinelli and Tyreece John-Jules will now serve as backup players for Aubemeyang and Lacazzette.
