The recent murmurs to arrive after the defeat suffered by Los Blancos is that Marcos Alonso is a possible target before the close of the transfer window.
Real Madrid were humbled by capital rivals Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup. On this evidence, new manager, Lopetegui has marked his defense, left side in particular for strengthening.
Alonso who only ones featured for the Madrid team after coming through there ranks and working under Lopetegui as an underage is the player being touted.
It is not the first time Marcos Alonso will be linked to Los Blanco, but this seems rather serious as the present left back has no competition.
Following the sending out of Theo Hernández on loan to Real Sociedad, Marcelo is the only left back at the club, Lopetegui does need another option to apply pressure to Marcelo in that position.
Relationship between the clubs seem rather warm given that Thibaut Courtois recently joined Real Madrid from Chelsea while Kovacic went the other way.
Alonso has played at various clubs before finally finding a home in Chelsea. Although, Spanish players do sometimes become homesick at a particular stage in their careers abroad, so there is every tendency that he won’t remain long at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will be reluctant to sell as the transfer window will reopen in England in January, 2019. So, adequate replacement cannot be made if they allow the Spanish defender to depart to Real Madrid now.
