Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is set to complete a transfer to French side PSG in the summer. The 29year-old Spaniard is out of contract and confirmed before the game against Cardiff that he would be leaving the club in the summer.
It is understood that PSG have tabled a contract worth £300,000 a week for the utility player. Herrera had been in negotiation with Manchester United all season as he wanted a significant rise in his wages before signing a new contract.
However, Manchester United refused to budge to his demands as the club felt that the contract on offer was good enough for the player. Herrera turns 30 next season and Manchester United are wary of offering a massive contract to a player who appears to have reached the peak of his career. PSG have taken advantage of the situation and gotten the type of midfielder that they have been craving for all season.
Manchester United would need to replace Herrera in the summer and a few players have been linked to the club. Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Juventus playmaker Miralem Pjanic are believed to be on the wish list of the club.
Herrera is a combative midfielder with the ability to operate as a deep-lying playmaker, and would be the perfect foil for Marco Verratti.
