Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with the agent of Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes according to media sources.
Fernandes’s agent Miguel Pinho met with representatives from the club on Wednesday over a potential transfer. It is understood that Pinho has been instructed by Sporting Lisbon to fast-track the transfer of Fernandes.
Manchester United were thought to be the overwhelming favourites for the midfielder but are currently looking to secure the signing of Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Pinho had earlier had a meeting with United officials two months ago but the club want to sign Wan-Bissaka first before making any move for Fernandes.
Tottenham want a new central midfielder as a replacement for Christian Eriksen. The Denmark midfielder has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. He has less than a year left on his contract and Tottenham wants to cash in this summer.
Fernandes is a different midfielder to Eriksen as he scored more goals than the Dane who prefers to dictate the tempo of the game. The Portugal ace would be an excellent replacement for the Dane.
Sporting Lisbon value Fernandes at £70 million but it is thought that they would be willing to sell for around £45 million.
