Arsenal coach Unai Emery aside from worrying over new players to be recruited to the club is also tasked with the responsibility of recruiting new captains for the team.
According to the Independent, Emery plans to have 5 captains for the 2019/2020 football season and he is already thinking of a team without Laurent Koscielny, who is currently battling with a knee injury.
Independent disclosed that Unai Emery said he wants Rob Holdings because he is an English player and as such would “understand the English spirit and Arsenal values.”
It is reported that the Spaniard intends to make 23-year old Rob Holding one of the five captains.
Last year, Arsenal had Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil, Nacho Monreal, Aaron Ramsey, and Petr Cech as captain but following the departure of Ramsey and Cech, the number dropped to three.
However, Emery’s idea of having an English player as captain is good but having five appears to be superfluous.
Moreover, Rob Holding is an injury-prone player and first has to be consistent before thinking of getting a captain band.
